i.appear is a platform for digital walking tours and audio guides across Vorarlberg. We connect the physical world with digital content to bring places to life. Each walking tour is built from multiple locations with 3D models, augmented reality, audio guides, videos and much more!

No. i.appear is a progressive web app. You can open it directly through your smartphone browser (e.g. via a QR code on location), without using up storage for a download.

Yes. For end users, access to the tours is completely free. Funding comes from the respective municipalities, museums or companies.

Currently you’ll find digital walking tours in Dornbirn, Feldkirch, Hard, Au in the Bregenzerwald and other locations across Vorarlberg. The platform is scalable – new regions are added on an ongoing basis.

i.appear is location-based. To unlock a location you need to be physically there. Your GPS detects your position and unlocks the content. Once discovered, you can often view the content later from anywhere.

All you need is a smartphone with an internet connection and GPS enabled. For AR content, your browser should have access to the camera and an integrated AR Core (a list from Google shows current smartphones with AR Core).

Your location is only used to unlock locations on site. We don’t create movement profiles and we use the data exclusively for the functionality of the tour. We don’t store anything.
